Through some new TV ads, Apple announced today that the iPhone will be released on Friday, June 29th. It seems that they waited to announce this until they were sure that my plans to leave for Ireland on June 28th were finalized. Will I even recognize the tech landscape in my home country when I return? By the time I'm back on July 4th, will I be scorned and laughed at for my oh-so-early-2007 Treo 680? I just hope that my old phone still works on Cingular/AT&T's network after they've let loose the iPhone beast. This is going to be a very long six-day trip.
