Gizmodo is trying to orangize a boycott of the the RIAA for next month (March, 2007). They point out that the only way the RIAA is going to stop suing everybody in sight is if they're hit in the wallet. Or, if nobody every downloads another non-DRM'ed song ever again. They're not suggesting to go out and pirate music. Rather, you can spend the month putting your dollars toward non-RIAA artists or giving your cash directly to the artists at their concerts. I like the suggestion to head over to eMusic and find some new music there in pure, unrestricted MP3 format. I finally started my pay subscription last month and it'll take quite a while before I run out of stuff to get from there. For just $10 a month you can get a few albums worth of music; no other online music store gets you that much for so little (let's stay away from the allofmp3 argument for now). If you're in the Boston area and need some suggestions of where you could see some good live music, I'd suggest the following:
