I spent last night at the Bank of America Pavilion seeing my 10th Radiohead show. I won't repeat the setlist cuz you can find that at places like here and here. Of the nine new songs that they played, I think that "Videotape" and "Bodysnatchers" are my current favorites, although I was disappointed that I didn't really hear something that I'd consider to be a future live classic in the vein of "Just," "2+2=5," or "Everything In It's Right Place." From my limited listening of the new stuff, I'd rate them on par with songs like "In Limbo," "Nice Dream," and "Punchup at a Wedding"; they're great songs, but you kinda forget about them once the next album is out. Still, I'm curious to see what they're going to do with them when they get back to the studio. Another of the "new" songs is called "Nude" and they've actually been kicking that one around since the OK Computer tour. I've always hoped that they'd bring that one back since I heard them play it at Radio City Music Hall on the next-to-last show of that tour. They've slowed it down a bit and mellowed it some, but it hasn't changed that radically.
I don't remember if Jonny had given up the arm brace on the last tour, but it certainly wasn't on last night. I know that he's supposed to be a t-shirt connoisseur and last night's was the strangest I've seen. The left sleeve (fret hand) was long-sleeved, and the right (picking hand) was short sleeved. I guess he did that so he wouldn't shred the shirt while he ripped through the songs. While he was the same crazy-flailing guy on songs like "My Iron Lung," he definitely toned down his picking motions for "Airbag."
My seat was about 2/3 of the way back, so I don't think I got many good pictures (I haven't looked at them yet). If any of them turn out well, I'll post then. I was sitting right beside the sound board, though, so I at least got a couple good pictures of the desk and the guys there. Also, I'll have to listen more closely tonight, but I think that my first try at recording turned out sort of miserably. I think I can blame it on my mic clipping, so I guess I'll return that one and look for something decent. Oh well, it was worth a try. Fortunately, I know someone who will be recording tonight's show from the 2nd row. Lucky, lucky guy.
Oh, and Ed's still tall.
In less-important yesterday news, here's my playlist and archived audio from yesterday's British Accents show.
