After checking out Lifehacker's Coolest Workspace Contest, I've been on the search for the perfect desk. When I moved a few weeks ago, the old monster desk was dumped in the basement storage with hopes that someone will reply to my long-expired Craigslist ad and offer to come take away its disassembled pieces. When I moved in, I thought that I had everything sussed out. When we got access to a van or truck, I was going to head to Ikea and buy their flexible, comfortable, and wonderfully-named Jerker desk. Someone has even made a shrine to this piece of furniture. However, over the past few days I've been feeling like I need to minimize even more, so the upper shelf needs to go. I've been scouring sites from Crate and Barrel to The Container Store to Design Out Of Reach. Still, I might end up crafting my own desktop and use some combination of shelves and legs from The Container Store as the base. But I still don't know. Does anyone have any favorite desk ideas or stores? My mind can still be changed a few more times.
While on the Ikea idea: here's a blog post that claims to explain the company's naming conventions. Now I need to meet a Swedish guy named "Jerker."
Tomorrow night I head to the Garden to see Pearl Jam again. Thursday night will be spent at Great Scott for the British Accents 7th Anniversary Party. A few Brit-inspired bands from NY will be playing, and then DJ Dave will be spinning some Britastic tunes afterwards. As regular substitute DJ for the show, I'm pretty much required to go, not that I need the encouragement.
Now playing: Patti Smith - Horses
