Left of the Dial

October 21, 2005 10:52 AM

This Sunday I'll be doing my first solo DJing since I graduated from Penn State, where I was on WKPS for four years. I'm helping out with the British Accents show on WMFO, the Tufts student station. I'll be on the air from 4-6 p.m. and the frequency (Kenneth) is 91.5 MHz.

You can also listen to last week's show by going here and clicking on British Accents' "last show". I sat in with the regular British Accents host Dave for the first half of that show to get reaquainted with running a board.

Being on the radio is one of the things that I miss most from my college days. Part of what I loved was just that every week I knew that I'd have a stack of new CDs to listen to. My music collection really exploded in my junior and senior years, although Napster 1.0 should certainly be given its fair credit for that, too. It also gave me the opportunity to make everybody else listen to what I wanted them to hear. Although I know WKPS's listening base was stupidly small, it was good to know that I had a potential market of about 40,000 students, many of whom I could hope would be listening to the brilliant Different Class show on Wednesdays from 11-1.

Now playing: Rolling Stones - Fenway Park 8/23/05
