Penn State (my alma mater) beat Ohio St in football this weekend. I only got to watch the first 10 minutes of the game on TV from my NYC hotel, but even from there I could tell that Beaver Stadium was as loud as I've ever heard it. Now I've read the science to back that up.
In related news, I was at the Audio Engineering Society conference in NYC this past weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to schedule my free hearing test. I was hoping to see that my hearing hasn't degraded since my last test. This is the part where I get preachy - wear earplugs anywhere that you're exposed to high sound levels. I've been to quite a few concerts in the past couple of years and I can't think of one where I didn't need earplugs. Remember that your ear cannot repair any damage done to it. Your hearing peaks when you're about 18 and can only get worse from there. If you don't want to wear earplugs, let me know, and I'll invest in a hearing aid company right away. This goes for you iPod users and knighted ex-Beatles, too.
